A Little More Grungeboard

Dressform

I wanted to try the grungeboard on something a little more dimensional.  I am using the Paper Mache Mannequin painted with Lumiere Paint.  I antiqued the dressform with thinned brown acrylic paint.  I then painted the Grungeboard Elements in a faux rust.  After attaching the grungeboard to the mannequin, I embellished with seed beads, lace and an amber rhinestone.  I finished it off with rusted screen wings.

Have you tried the new Grungeboard yet?

Grungeboard

This is a fantantic product!  You can paint, twist it, glue it, and just about anything to this product.  Here, I did a faux rust paint on the Grungeboard Elements.  I have also used one of the new canvas backgrounds.  Now offered in collage sheets, #72 and #73.

Giftcardsfr

After scanning the gift box and creating a small layout for this tutorial, I thought I might print the image and use for a quick card.  Just add a little gold ribbon, and you have a really special card for friends or family.

I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday Season, and Merry Christmas.

Ornament Makeover

Birdnestfr_2

As I was getting out my Christmas ornaments this year, I noticed that a few of them seemed a little dull or drab.  This particular ornament was just a plain bird sitting on a bird's nest.  I felt with a few additions, I could revive it and give it a little more sparkle.
First, I decide to add a few Rusty Tin Tags.  But it still needed a little sparkle and so I gilded the eggs and tags with Variegated Gildenglitz.  It also needed a little greenery, and I added the green ivy and leaves.  To balance out this assemblage, I added a rusty key, Large Rusty Snowflake, small crystal drop, and ribbon.
See what you can add to some of those old tired ornaments.  You may come up with some small works of art!

Holiday Gift Ideas

Beatrix Potter's Journal is a compilation of bits and pieces of the artist’s life from 1882, at the age of 16, until 1913, when she married.  The journal is fairly large, measuring 11.5 by 10 inches, with padded covers.

This is beautifully illustrated book, with watercolor paintings, ephemera, and old photos.  It contains several foldouts of maps and letters, even a small photo album.

Embedded in a niche in the back cover is the first The Tale of Peter Rabbit, in the original black and white print.

I have always wanted to create a really beautiful journal, and when I first saw this book, I knew it would be a great example of the way I would want mine to resemble.

Miss Potter, a movie starring Renee Zellweger and Ewan McGregor, is a charming story loosely based on the biography of Beatrix Potter.  As an artist, I loved seeing the studio, the home, and all the beautiful landscape which surrounds this story.

Both of these offerings would make wonderful gifts for any artists in your family.  You will find more information on both of these in the sidebar.  And I love to know you if have seen either of these, and hear your opinion.
